VAE exhibitions are open to all artists. To enter please carefully follow the exhibition guidelines (click here to view). Work not adhereing to the guidelines is ineligible for jurying or inclusion in exhibits.

Scope: the North Carolina Landscape
June 5-25, 2009
First Friday Reception: June 5, 6-9pm
Interpretations of the North Carolina landscape from artists across the state.
Juried by David Steel, Curator of the European Collection, North Carolina Museum of Art.

Seeing Red
July 3-30, 2009
First Friday Reception: July 3, 6-9pm
Passion. Heat. Anger. Lust. This exhibition will delve into the creative possibilities of the color red. All work should feature red as the dominant color.
Juried by Aly Khalifa of Gamil Design and Designbox.

Fur + Feathers
August 7-27, 2009
First Friday Reception: August 7, 6-9pm
In August, VAE celebrates our non-human companions--those with tails, scales, wings, and fur. Artists may enter a portrait of any kind of animal, from Flipper to Fido. One entry per artist.
Non-juried.

20th Annual N.E.W. Show
September 4-24, 2009
First Friday Reception: September 4, 6-9pm
The Never Exhibited Works (N.E.W.) Show represents a cross-section of the newest, most innovative work in the state. Work must have been created within the past 12 months and not previously exhibited anywhere.
Juried by Ce Scott, Director of Residencies and Exhibitions at McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC.

Alchemy
October 2-29, 2009
First Friday Reception: October 2, 6-9pm
This month we are stirring things up with mixed media works. Alchemy will feature works created with more than one media. Whether you combine collage and encaustic or oil and charcoal, artists are encouraged to try unusual combinations of media. All media should be listed on the entry form.
Juried by Lope Max Diaz, Associate Professor of Art + Design at the College of Design at North Carolina State University.

A Sale for the Season is a members-only exhibit of smaller, gift-sized works priced at under $300. Limit 2 works per artist. Works may not exceed 20" in any dimension, including frame.
