VAE Board

Winston Bowden
Chair, Board of Directors

Winston manages sales & marketing at Contactology, a Durham-based company that supplies customers with online tools to harness the power of email marketing and online surveys. During his tenure at Contactology, the company has grown rapidly, doubling its revenue in 2007 and 2008. His current responsibilities include analyzing market potential and profitability of products, reviewing marketing tactics and channels, overseeing all corporate communication and monitoring sales strategy effectiveness.

His experience in the entrepreneurial community began at the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) in 2000. At CED, Winston was responsible for creating and executing the strategic and tactical marketing plans for each CED conference and program. During his time at the Council, CED consistently increased growth within its' membership.

Winston devotes his free time to several non-profits. He sits on the board of directors as chair for the Visual Art Exchange, a non-profit that supports emerging artists and public art initiatives. At VAE, he co-chaired the 2008 annual fundraiser, which raised a record $105K. He is also a member of the Southeast BIO marketing committee where he helped launch their first on-line blog, a forum for entrepreneurs to discuss issues related to the life-science community. In addition, he has sat on the marketing advisory committee for the Works of Heart, an annual art auction that raises funds for the Alliance of AIDS Services of North Carolina.

Winston graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Communications.
