Exchange Gallery
Apply for your own featured artist exhibition!

VAE will be jurying in April 2008 for VAE members to feature in the Exchange Gallery from July 2008 - June 2009. VAE coordinates professional monthly exhibits of four or five featured artists in its smaller front retail gallery. Each featured artist has a selection of his/her work exhibited on one of the four walls of the gallery (or on pedestals in the window for 3D artists).

Artists must apply and be selected to participate in this exciting program.

Artist benefits:

  • A cohesive, professional looking exhibition of their artwork in the front retail space of VAE's downtown Raleigh gallery.

  • An opening reception on the First Friday of the month.
  • Vinyl signage of the artist's name with their exhibition.
  • Their artist's statement featured in a gallery binder.
  • Their name listed on VAE promotional materials and email.
  • Listing on VAE's web site.
  • A press release sent out about their work.
  • Inclusion in a special group show in December.

    • Artist responsibilities:

  • Gallery sitting one Saturday during the month of their exhibit.
  • A $25 exhibition fee to cover the cost of their vinyl. (this is is separate from the application fee)

    • Eligibility: The Exchange Gallery is open to all VAE members working in any medium. Sculpture and jewelry artists will be considered separately from two-dimensional artists. Artists who would like to be considered for both 2D and 3D work must submit two separate applications.

    Application Deadline: April 15, 2008

    How to apply: To apply send the following materials to VAE by April 15, 2008. Applicants will be notified of the jury's results in early May.

  • Application form (click here to download an application form)
  • $10 application fee
  • Artist statement and resume

  • SASE for return of application materials (note: applications without SASE will not be returned)

  • 3-5 jpegs, slides, or hardcopy photos of your work (preferred) *
    OR
    3 pieces of actual work (artists wishing to use actual work must make an appointment with VAE staff April 9-11 to bring it in)*


    • *images or pieces submitted must be representative of the TYPE/ BODY of work you plan to exhibit, not the EXACT work.
