William Breazeale

I am a representational landscape painter. My subject matter may be natural or man-made. Natural landscapes most often include broad vistas that dissolve into the distance and an atmosphere in a state of motion and transition. Urban and suburban scenes emphasize the mundane aspects of the built environment that we encounter in our everyday existence. Regardless of the subject matter, my objective is to depict these contemporary scenes in a traditional landscape format - but one that creates a sense of the vast scale, complexity and elegance of our man-made and natural surroundings.

Cecilia Guitarte

My photos are the basis for my work. When I take a photo, I see shapes and lines, darks and lights. Then in my paintings I try to emphasize what caught my attention. I like to simplify the objects, play with colors, and create a painting with clean lines and a smooth surface. These paintings are part of my "summer and color" series. I hope you enjoy them.

Kimberly D. Kearney

While beading, my mind enters a peaceful place that allows my creativity to flow. I have always felt the need to nurture my creative spirit. Without artistic expression, life is unbalanced.

A needle and thread are the simple tools I use to bring my jewelry designs to life. The designs are created by binding one bead to the next, blending color, building texture and intricacy with each pass of the needle.

My work table is filled with beautiful gem stones. They entice me! They empower me! They are the inspiration for my work. As a child, I called them, "rocks, pretty rocks", and I brought them home in my pockets. As an adult, I am overwhelmed by the variety of beautiful stones that come from the earth.

Luminescent strands of pearls, sparkling crystals and a rainbow of seed beads complete my working palate. I arrange the colors and textures of these ingredients until the basis of my next piece of work comes in to view.

Creating art with gemstones and beads brings me joy. I want to share this joy through my work.

Nancy Hughes Miller

After graduating from North Carolina State's College of Design, I worked as a graphic designer for more than twenty five years. Now a lifelong desire to be a painter, a multi-faceted design education, ongoing self-instruction and workshops combine to fuel my art endeavors, dreams and ambitions.

The coastal and rural landscapes of southeastern North Carolina, near my hometown Tabor City, inspire many of my paintings. I am fortunate to paint in our small waterway condo at Sunset Beach and also in our home in Cary, NC, near Raleigh, where I've spent most of my life. My subjects are both new and familiar places - open fields, lakes, marshlands, the beach and ocean, plus vistas from my travels. I paint usually from my own photography on a linen canvas in oils. My paintings strive to be simple, serene and soothing, not too complicated. Learning, evolving, experimenting, expressing - to me, that's what it means to be an artist.

Lori White

I am a North Carolina artist, working in oils and pastels, with a passion for both painting and the environment. Currently, I am working on two series, one of which is a landscape series featuring the wonderful vineyards, farmlands, and forests of North Carolina. I do both plein air paintings of North Carolina landscapes and larger studio works in which I attempt to capture the freshness and sensory qualities I experience when I am actually in the forest or on the farm.

Impressionism is the art movement that most deeply resonates within me, being a point of departure for my work, which is largely contemporary realism. In addition to the Impressionists, my influences are the Ashcan School, Schmid, Sorolla, Sargent, and Hopper. The currently active plein air painters Scott Christensen, Matt Smith, Ralph Oberg, Albert Handell, and Clyde Aspevig are strong influences on my outdoor painting.

My plein air paintings are included in Painting North Carolina - Impressions en Plein Air. In addition to selling to corporate clients and individual collectors, I am very active in donating artwork for fund raising efforts locally including AAS-C Works of Heart, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Human Rights Campaign, believing very strongly that every artist should give back to the community.
