About the Juror:
Brad Thomas is the director of the Van Every/Smith Galleries at
Davidson College. He has organized exhibitions ranging from the
acclaimed retrospective of apocalyptic visionary paintings by the late
Reverend McKendree Robbins Long, to a presentation of narrative
textiles by indigenous peoples of war-torn countries entitled Threads of
Conflict. He also co-curated the international artists-in-residency and
book project, FORCE OF NATURE, which featured site-specific
installations by ten Japanese artists at seven American institutions.
His critical reviews have appeared in the Chicago Tribune and Raw
Vision magazine. Upcoming projects include an essay for an exhibition
of works by Charles Ritchie for the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at
North Carolina State University and a community-based residency
program with artist Chris Johanson.
